The Schreiber Fuzzy Filter
Schreiber’s Fuzzy Filter® is an innovative and cost effective filter. The Fuzzy Filter operates at a very high rate (30 gpm/ft2), is compact and modular, and is applicable to a wide variety of water and wastewater applications. The filter uses a 30” deep media bed comprised of individual 1.25” diameter compressible fiber spheres, and achieves a high rate of solids removal down to 4 microns. The porosity of the filter bed can be altered to suit influent characteristics by mechanically compressing the media. The operator can adjust media porosity to suit his influent characteristics – and he can do so with the push of a button. The media porosity and solids removal can be optimized to maximize effluent quality and run time. The filter uses influent water to wash the media. By utilizing violent air scouring in concert wash water injection, the filter media is cleaned very easily using only1-2% wash water without any media loss. The Fuzzy Filter® is available sizes from 2.25 to 64 ft2 with flows ranging 0.10 MGD to 2.8 MGD at a loading rate of 30 GPM/ft2. Applications include Tertiary WW, Pre-Filtration to RO Systems, Water Reuse (Title 22), CSO, and many Industrial Process Applications.
