The Water Environment Federation is pleased to offer a self-reported certificate and ribbon to WEFTEC attendees who attend at least three technical sessions related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2015, the United Nations member states adopted the 2030 Development Agenda titled, Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as a call to action for all countries to work toward peace and prosperity for people and the planet. This agenda outlined 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to thematic areas such as water, energy, and climate; with associated targets and indicators.

This summer, the WEF Board of Trustees unanimously approved a new position statement in support of the SDGs. The move emphasizes WEF’s dedication to partnerships and activities that advance the SDGs and the broader water profession. It also recognizes water professionals’ critical value in achieving global gains for public health, the environment, and beyond. Show Your Support

Now, it’s your chance to show your individual interest and dedication to these ideals. At WEFTEC 2019, you can earn a self-reported certificate and SDG ribbon. Simply attend at least three of the sessions marked in the Official WEFTEC 2019 Guide with the SDG color wheel, record them on the SDG Checklist, and return the completed form to the Bookstore or Innovation Pavilion. (WEF will not be tracking these sessions; this is a self-supported certificate.)

Earn Your Certificate

Either download the SDG Checklist or pick-up one up outside of the meeting rooms at the conference. The checklist notes all sessions that are relevant and which SDG and target they meet. Check-off each related session you attend, and once you have at least three, take the sheet to the Bookstore or the Innovation Pavilion for your ribbon and information on your electronic certificate.
