Need a break? Head over to the Pure Water Brewing Alliance Beer Garden to sample a variety of brews that highlight water sector partners working together to achieve recycling and reuse innovations.
While reuse beer has been offered at WEFTEC previously during Innovation Pavilion receptions, this new lounge provides a designated venue to sample Pure Water Brews — the world’s most sustainable beer made from 100% pure recycled wastewater. Pure Water Brew is a collaboration among pioneering brewers and water utilities. They have teamed up to build public understanding of the water cycle, showcase water treatment, and advance water sustainability.
Beer samples will be poured Monday and Tuesday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Monday’s featured brews
- CDM Smith presents “FAT Californian Rolled Oats American Oatmeal Porter (RO-AOP).” This beer uses purified water from the Leo J. Vander Lans Advanced Water Treatment Facility in Long Beach, California. California’s full advanced treatment (FAT) process has become the gold standard in potable reuse, converting wastewater flows into safe drinking water supplies for the water-stressed state. This selection was home-brewed by Tim Rynders, Process Engineer (CDM Smith; Denver).
- Clean Water Services will offer “Nature Blonde Ale.” This special collaboration edition of Pure Water Brew was crafted for the 2018 Singapore International Water Week and brewed in cooperation with Cascade Brewing (Portland, Ore.) using high purity water from the Arizona Pure Water Brew project. Visit Clean Water Services’ new Pure Water Wagon(Booth 8112, Hall I), a mobile treatment platform and public outreach tool that transforms what goes down the drain into water that’s safe to return to the environment, irrigate crops, brew beer, and more.
Local New Orleans craft beer also will be available to taste on Monday and Tuesday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
