Daniel Simmons, Assistant Secretary for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), visited the WEFTEC Now Studio to talk about how the Department of Energy (DOE) and EERE intersect with the water sector and the DOE Water Desalination Hub funding selection. He talked about the announcement of $100 million for the DOE Energy–Water Desalination Hub. The Hub will focus on early-stage research and development for energy-efficient and cost-competitive desalination technologies, including manufacturing challenges.
Interviewed by WEF's Travis Loop, Simmons also discussed two other DOE prizes, the Wastewater Resource Recovery Prize Competition and the American-Made Challenge: Solar Desalination Prize.
