WEFTEC Presentation Types

Workshops

WEFTEC workshops offer an immersive and interactive learning experience, designed to impart practical skills, techniques, and concepts directly applicable to professionals in the water quality field. These workshops cover a range of essential and cutting-edge topics, ensuring participants can dive deep into specific areas of interest in a classroom setting. With a focus on practical application, these workshops are structured to provide both half-day and full-day programs, tailored to enhance the professional development of attendees by addressing current challenges and innovations in water management.

Technical Sessions

Utilizing both traditional classroom formats and interactive styles, Technical Session proposals and individual Abstracts enable you to share your challenges, solutions, and ideas and be the catalyst for change in the water sector.

Individual Abstracts
All abstract submissions should include an author, co-author, and a maximum of two speakers. The abstract itself cannot exceed 5,500 characters. Accepted individual abstract submissions will be paired with 1-2 other individual abstract submissions to develop one technical session. Accepted abstract authors should expect to coordinate with the other authors in their technical session.

Each accepted abstract will be assigned a presentation time based on the format of the session. Speakers should expect presentation time to be as short as 5 minutes or as long as 15 minutes. Presentation times are shared immediately upon acceptance into the technical program.

Session Proposal
All session proposals should consist of a maximum of three speakers, two facilitators, and a completed agenda (60 to 90 minutes). Agendas must have a cohesive theme or topic with the goal of encouraging knowledge exchange or development. Proposals must incorporate attendee interaction.

Accepted session proposal submissions will become a complete technical session. Accepted proposal facilitators should expect to coordinate with program community members to finalize the session’s agenda and attendee engagement activities before WEFTEC 2024. Proposal speakers and facilitators should not all represent the same utility or organization but should come from different backgrounds and experiences. This includes not having all clients from one consulting organization or manufacturer.

Technology Spotlights

Technology Spotlights at WEFTEC are curated sessions that guide participants through the exhibition, spotlighting booths where the latest innovations designed to tackle current water sector challenges are showcased. These focused encounters not only allow for direct interaction with cutting-edge solutions but also facilitate in-depth discussions with exhibitors about their products and services, providing a hands-on learning experience about new technologies and their applications within the industry.

Pavilions Sessions

Pavilion sessions offer innovative, applied, and late-breaking information right in the exhibition. These sessions feature expert speakers, cutting-edge technologies, and interactive discussions aimed at addressing the different niches each pavilion addresses.

Innovation Pavilion Theater
The WEFTEC Innovation Pavilion presented by WEF, BlueTech Research, and Imagine H2O, is the go-to destination for the most current and prominent water sector information. True to its name, the Innovation Pavilion Theater highlights the newest water and stormwater sector trends, opportunities, technologies, and implementations in the water sector. This pavilion hosts 25-minute presentations.

Global Center
The Global Center features sessions and networking from over a dozen countries every year. Sessions should include topics of global relevance, including those related to stormwater, and be educational/informative. The typical length of session/panel is 60 minutes with 45-50 minutes of presentation and 10-15 minutes of Q&A.

SDG Theather
The SDG Theater at WEFTEC, located in the Drinking Water Pavilion, showcases a series of presentations focusing on integrated water resources management and the circular economy, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Programming includes discussions on water stewardship, resource recovery, stormwater management, and topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, among others. This initiative is part of WEFTEC's commitment as a proud partner of UN-Water, supporting efforts toward achieving the SDGs. The SDG Theater will hold 25-minute sessions featuring programming highlighting all SDGs.
